Together for Good: Fight Loneliness and Give the Gift
of Hope and Connection
Empower seniors, children, and families through essential services this Giving Tuesday.
2.4 million New Jersey residents suffer from loneliness.
"I can't go to the grocery store, and after my husband passed away from cancer, I needed help," - CHEER & CHORE recipient Gloria

"I was very dissatisfied with my life. I didn't want to get out of bed," - Joseph, a teen enrolled in the Mentoring program

This Giving Tuesday, give the gift of hope and connection.

"Bergen Volunteers has given me life, it's given me joy," praises Gloria.

Gloria is almost 90 years old, homebound, and became widowed in recent years. She needed help getting everyday essentials like groceries. Thanks to her CHEER companion Jimmy, Gloria doesn't worry about running household errands.

"Working with Dan (Mentor) built my confidence and I learned to be independent. I no longer have that nagging sense of anxiety. Thanks to the Mentoring program, I feel more like a confident young man," Joseph shares.

Joseph's mom enrolled her son in the program after noticing his declining mental health. Thanks in part to the encouragement of his mentor Dan, Joseph is now in vocational school.
