The Northern New Jersey Good Business Awards 2006
Area companies were recently honored for their volunteer efforts and corporate citizenship at the
seventh Annual Good Business Awards. Lee Tremble, owner of the
Iron Horse Restaurant in Westwood, was honored as 2006 Business Volunteer of the Year, for his many years of giving back to the community, both professionally and personally. Guests brought
more than 60 boxes of breakfast cereal which was donated to area hunger-relief organizations to alleviate summer food shortages. The collection marked the official beginning of Brown Bag Buddies, a strategic initiative sponsored by the BVC.
Good Business Awards are presented by the Northern New Jersey Business Volunteer Council (BVC), a not-for-profit coalition of businesses sponsored by the Volunteer Center of Bergen County in partnership with the Bergen County's United Way. Since 2000, its members have collectively directed more than
$700,000 in resources to children and families in need.

Lee Tremble has been owner of the
Iron Horse Restaurant in Westwood for the past 35 years. His
outgoing personality, innovative ideas, and genuine concern for
people has helped him not only to build his business into a
renowned and popular eating establishment in Bergen County, but
to reach out to the community and make a difference to
organizations and residents.
Lee Tremble says, “I’m honored that the BVC is recognizing my
work in the community. I’m grateful for the support of my lovely
wife Anne, and my children Sean, Corey and Katie, because
without their understanding of why ‘Daddy’s never home, he’s out
saving someone’, none of this would have happened. Recognition
and awards are wonderful, but they are not the reason why I do
what I do. I hope to raise awareness of the need for companies,
big and small, to support worthy causes. There needs to be more
opportunities for agencies to connect with people in businesses,
who can help financially and provide volunteer manpower to help
bring about positive change to serious social problems.”
