Agency Membership |
The Volunteer Center of Bergen County is a vital partner to non-profits and the community, collecting and maintaining comprehensive data on agencies and their volunteer positions. The information is posted on our website at www.bergenvolunteers.org - which is accessed free of charge by approximately 100,000 prospective volunteers annually. The information is also included in the Guide to Volunteering, published annually in printed form and downloadable from our website.
Beginning this year, agencies can take advantage of a new membership category. The annual $50 membership fee provides non-profits these great benefits:
- Agency information - including complete contact information and mission - posted to the Volunteer Center's online database and the Guide to Volunteering
- Unlimited number of volunteer positions listed on the website and in the Guide
- Unlimited number of volunteer positions listed
- Unlimited updates of volunteer position listings throughout the year
- Listing on our HOT JOBS web-board and blog
- Listing on our HOT JOBS web-board and blog as well as email notification to our volunteer pool regarding your current and immediate volunteer projects
- Discount on select trainings
- Free attendance at the quarterly Volunteer Managers' Roundtables, a premier networking opportunity for those engaged in volunteer management at your agency
- Special benefits for your volunteers 55 years of age and older. Become an RSVP Station and we can offer these volunteers reimbursement for mileage, additional insurance coverage, and special recognition through a national and local level.
- Listing as an Agency Member in the Volunteer Center's annual report
If your organization does not wish to become a dues-paying Agency Member of the Volunteer Center, we will continue to provide the following service free of charge: |
- Listing of your Agency name, address and phone number on the website and in the Guide (without information about your mission, contacts and volunteer positions)

Recruitment & Referral of Volunteers |
Need volunteers? Then we can help! We maintain an extensive
database of volunteer opportunities at non-profits in and around Bergen County. There are four ways individual volunteers and volunteer groups can find out about the available positions:
- Search the Volunteer Center's online database
- Look through the "Hands-on Guide to Volunteering"
- Complete and return a Volunteer Information Form online
- Talk to a real person
No matter which method (or combination of) a prospective volunteer chooses, the result will be contact information for an agency (or agencies). The volunteer is encouraged to follow through by getting touch with the agency - a call which will hopefully end in a mutually satisfying volunteer placement.
Volunteers will be referred only to agencies that have registered with the Volunteer Center!
So don't delay - register your agency today! Once we receive the information, it will be added immediately to our in-house database, next month to our online database and to the next issue of the "Hands-on Guide to Volunteering" (published twice a year).
Please remember to give us complete and accurate information and to include a variety of volunteer positions, including requests for leadership volunteers (board and committee members). If your agency needs the help of volunteer groups, please be sure to include
information about group projects, too!
